Muthoni is a woman of many talents. She came to Grain of Rice Project to train Emily on how to make sisal baskets. We instantly realized her amazing talent and spirit and asked her to continue working with us. She learned the trade of basketmaking from her father, and the tradition has been passed down through her family. Previously, she had lost hope because she couldn't find anyone to buy her baskets. But now that she's been able to create them for Grain of Rice Project, she has a new sense of joy. She is also able to crochet and knit. She creates our clutches, fall pumpkins, and more.
Muthoni is a great teacher, and has continued to share her skills with other GORP artisans. She currently resides in Kibera and is originally from Embu, Kenya.
