Presently, 212 pupils in grades spanning from preschool to eighth grade attend Grain of Rice Academy, an elementary school.The Grain of Rice Kids Program, which was based in Kibera for seven years, had just under half of our pupils as former participants. After moving to our new facility, these children now board on-site and go home during breaks. Grain of Rice Academy aims to offer a top-notch, experiential, literacy-based education that is enriched with the arts. We are integrating these principles in conjunction with the new Competency Based Curriculum that is being implemented in Kenya.
Our Purpose
In Kenya, it is difficult to find high-quality education unless you are quite wealthy. For this reason, we established Grain of Rice Academy, which offers all students—rich or poor—equality and a top-notch, practical education. Our team has developed a literacy-based curriculum that incorporates STEM and the arts in collaboration with educators, academics, and specialists.

Are you interested in changing a child’s life in Kenya? The Grain of Rice Project is supported by kind sponsors like you.
Your dedication fosters enduring bonds, builds trust, and allows the child to thrive in their educational setting. In addition to providing for the child’s education, uniforms, books, supplies, and meals, your monthly donation helps them understand God’s love and hope. We advise advocates to stay with the student for at least a year, and ideally, for the duration of their time at Grain of Rice Academy.
There are 2 advocate options:
Cover half of a child’s education and support as a Dual Advocate or fully sponsor a child as a Sole Advocate.
