Peter is originally from Embu, Kenya. He is a husband and father of four children. He came to Kibera Slum more than 25 years ago hoping for better opportunities. He wanted to learn to drive but never had money to take lessons. Instead, he began watching other tailors make clothing. He volunteered to help them with ironing and sewing buttons, and slowly he learned to sew through their help. He later opened his own tailoring shop, but struggled to stay in business because there were few customers. He is now part of the GORP sewing team and helps to make bags, housewares, and more. He is motivated by a desire to provide the best he can for his family. He is friendly, funny, and hopes to earn enough money to once again re-open his tailoring shop.
